The Silver Scalpel - How to contribute

So you're not a medic therefore this doesn't apply to you- WRONG!

With a number of categories proposed, we are particularly interested in exploring surgery from a non-medical point of view as well as from our fellow medics, which is where we hope all students, staff & doctors will come into play. Possible categories include: -

  • Breakthrough developments in the field of surgery

  • The future of Women in Surgery

  • International Surgery (Developing countries, warzones, differing technology & procedures; we want to hear it all!)

  • Short reviews (~500) on the surgical iBSc's/courses

  • History of surgery/surgeons (including ancient history)

  • Surgery and law (Interesting cases brought against or by surgeons & laws a surgeon must be aware of)

  • Ethics and Surgery.

  • Surgical Patient Safety in relation to the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist, or otherwise

  • Surgery education as a guide of various instruments/procedures that you come across

  • Surgery and art. What does Surgery mean to you- show us via painting, sketch, sculpture or photoshop! (High quality pictures please)

  • Letters or questions for the Society or about Surgery in general.

  • Miscellaneous: Any amazing idea that doesn't fit into any of the above, surprise us! This list is endless.
